Day Two. Game Camp.

Today, we learned more imagination exercises and got into our instruments (body and voice and mind).

The work went into extending the story building exercise.  I gave them the setting this time.  It was to take place in the future and the location was a reverse waterfall.  They titled the play Geyser.   Character development became more enhanced.  We worked on physicality and vocal quality.  And, the girls made adjustments.  The play this morning had a magical closet which allowed the characters to travel through time and into a different dimension.

They knew so much about their characters.  It was really wonderful.

 

We were able to hike the river again before lunch.  At lunch, which Jaden and I have now dubbed Pringle-Time, we slowly shifted back into the subject of How She Played the Game.  Lunch also consisted of a dance party featuring Lady Gaga, Beethoven, and Justin Beiber.

Leela and Zara showed up and we began improvising and story building around the script.  The dramaturgical research included watching YouTube clips of Althea Gibson and Gertrude Ederle today.  This was amazing because the girls took on the responsibility of being as accurate as they could possibly be about these real life women.  Tomorrow they plan on bringing in costume choices.  They are working so hard.

They will give a public performance on Friday at 7pm.

I look forward to tomorrow morning when we will have all five girls in the room at once.
